The 2022 World Cup is fast approaching and ITV will be one of a select few channels to be televising the tournament. With this in mind ITV had hoped to launch its new streaming service ITVX, which is set to be an industry game changer.
ITVX joins a long list of streaming services currently available to the UK public. These include Netflix, SKY on Demand, BBC iPlayer, Amazon Prime, Apple TV, Disney + and the recently launched Paramount service to name just a few of the most popular ones and even includes the current ITV offering, ITV Hub.
So what makes ITVX so different to the streaming services which are available right now?
ITVX is the latest UK streaming service which is now scheduled to launch on 8th December 2022. The team had hoped to launch in time for the 2022 World Cup but it is better to deliver something right than deliver something fast. Not achieving the planned World Cup launch deadline may be an opportunity missed but the streaming service aims to more than make up for this by introducing over 10,000 hours of free programming, which includes the premiere of flagship shows from launch. ITVX will also aim to include 250+ blockbuster films and 200+ full series drops available from inception.
ITVX will replace the existing ITV Hub as the ITV online content source, delivering new and exclusive programmes every week for free.
In addition, programming and advertising will be based on the demographic make-up and habits of the user, delivering more personalised viewing which will evolve over time as more user information is collected. Advertisers are almost guaranteed significantly better results in terms of reaching their target audience and this can only get better as more data is gathered. ITVX will boast an ever-changing array of exclusive themed content based on the viewer’s preferences and the popularity of the shows.
ITVX will be the first streaming service in the UK to offer users either free access with ads or an ad-free paid subscription service. Paying subscribers will also be able to access the now firmly established BritBox UK streaming service. ITVX will also live stream all their unmissable live events, such as live sport and must watch live TV shows.
