FAQs

How much does it cost to make a TV commercial/advert?

The cost for an entry level TV advert would usually be in the region of £3,000 - £5,000. This price would be significantly higher if you spend more on the production of the advert (bearing in mind the better the quality of the advert the more chance you have of engaging with and converting potential customers). The other factors which will affect the cost is the number of regions in which your advert is aired and how long you wish to run your TV advert campaign for.

How can we target our audience through TV?

We have access to intelligent data which allows us to strategically target your audience. It really is clever stuff so contact us to find out more.

How long does it take to produce a TV advert?

This process usually takes between 8 - 12 weeks. This includes developing a campaign plan, booking advertising space, the Clearcast process and the production of your advert.

We’ve created adverts in less time (4 weeks) but we wouldn’t recommend this as a reasonable timeframe.

What is Clearcast?

Clearcast is an organisation which reviews all TV adverts in the UK prior to their approval and subsequent launch. This is to ensure that all adverts aired in the UK are not misleading, harmful or offensive. All TV adverts are checked against the UK

Code of Broadcast Advertising (the BCAP Code) to ensure they are appropriate.

How do we go about producing an animated advert?

Our brilliant team of producers will create your vision, whether it’s animated or live action.

How long should a TV advert be?

The most cost-effective TV adverts are 30 seconds long but the length of an advert can vary between 10 - 60 seconds. Some brands have been known to run a longer advert (up to 120 seconds) in conjunction with shorter 10 second adverts, to aid brand awareness and deliver a summarised version of their initial message.

Who will help us produce the TV advert?

We will help you throughout the entire process of creating your TV advert, from conception right through to launching live on TV.

Who owns the advert once it is produced and aired on TV?

You do! We work with you to create a fantastic campaign and you own all the rights to this production.

Can we reuse the content we create for our TV advert?

Yes! We’d encourage you to do so. You could create short snippets for use on your social media channels to complement your TV advertising campaign or even use the full advert on your website and your YouTube or Vimeo channel.

Who will put the TV campaign plan together?

We will put your plan together following our discussions with you. We will research the market and use our industry experience to formulate an amazing strategy to deliver the results you need.

Can we use existing content for an advert?

Absolutely! This is your advert. You may already have some great content to use which would save you both time and money. We’ll work with you and advise on any content you have and wish to utilise.

What if we already have a TV advert that’s been created?

Not a problem! We will support you to create a media plan and get your advert where it needs to be, on the box!

How many TV channels or media owners do you work with?

We work with all the main media owners including Sky, Channel 4 and 5, ITV, UKTV and Virgin to name a few. Wherever you need to be seen, we can get you there.

What Is Linear TV?

Linear is the traditional means of watching TV. The audience watches a TV programme on the channel it’s presented on at its scheduled time. E.g. if you watch Coronation Street on ITV at 7:30pm on Monday and not on a catch-up channel.

What is Non-Linear media?

Non-linear media is a form of media that can be interacted with by the consumer. It might be VOD with your favourite box set e.g., Game of Thrones which you download at your convenience and even fast forward through the adverts once it has downloaded. It could also be by playing a video game, by clicking through a website, or interacting through social media.

What is Video on Demand?

Video on Demand (VOD) means watching a programme at your convenience and not when it is scheduled to be aired on TV. You can watch VOD content on your TV, phone, laptop, or tablet whenever you decide.

What is AdSmart?

AdSmart allows you to pick and choose from a range of off the shelf attributes to select your perfect audience. You could select your location, target only those that own their own home and are of a certain age. Seeing your advert next to your favourite programme across more than 140 channels there is something to view for everyone.

In addition to the fixed attributes available AdSmart offers the advertisers the option to create custom segments and use third party data supplied by Nectar, GAME, TwentyCi etc. The delivered impression only counts once a minimum 75% of the advert has been viewed.

What is Sky AdVance?

Sky Advance has a rich understanding of how people watch TV and allows you to reach digital audiences based on their TV viewing habits.

This is all made possible through ad exposure across linear, sponsorship, VOD & AdSmart and in turn allows you to extend the reach of your campaign online to those that haven’t seen it on TV before. It can also drive response by adding a click-through, sequential call to action to your brand campaign.

In addition, we can define an audience through the content that the viewer is watching based on the genres, channels, and shows they love including BBC, ITV and Channel 4.

What is Short Form VOD?

Short Form VOD also known as pre-roll is a promotional video message that plays before the content the user has selected e.g., a clip that shows your favourite football team scoring in their last game. This is usually through YouTube, an app or website. The video advertisements are often repurposed television ads, often shortened to 10 or 15 seconds because 30-seconds is a standard for ads on television and is considered too long. As with VOD a weblink can also be added allowing the person viewing the advert to go through to the advertiser’s website or a particular landing page.
